THE PEST POSSE - Pest Control
Wasps are much larger than bees and have the ability to inflict a very painful sting repeatedly when agitated, and can be fatal in people with severe allergic reactions to these stings. Capable of causing swelling to the inflicted area, people should avoid drinking from open cans of soft drink that often attract wasps with the sweet taste, as a sting to the mouth and throat will provide difficulty in breathing and swallowing. Stings to a human may also create a sudden feeling of weakness, palpitations and more. It is important to seek medical attention if the victim is allergic to wasp stings or is having a severe reaction.
Wasps will not be found feeding on pollen, however like bees, they are attracted to the sweet flavours of nectar and some fruits. Unlike bees however, wasps are fierce predators and will feed on insects, spiders, grasshoppers and other small animals.
People who suspect they have a wasp problem should not try to remove these themselves, but immediately contact a trained professional who will determine the species of wasp and provide a solution.
